BORN TO FILM

The new video for "Born to Hurt is up today! This video was shot a few months at Axis Pioneer Square with the help of a ton of my friends in the music and arts communities here in Seattle and directed by Joshua Devenere. Josh first came to me attention through his "Dreamchaser" video done with Tekla Waterfield. We worked together on a rough story and script until satisfied then corralled who we could for the day of the shoot.

The story we came up with was that of a brother and sister who lost their parents to a fire as kids. Both have struggled with various forms of chemical dependency and the sister is now reluctantly marrying into a safe, conservative lifestyle while the brother is afraid of losing the only family he has. Images of their dead parents pop-up around the wedding then in what might be Allison's stoned hallucination which the brother later also sees once he figures out how his sister is actually feeling.

The day started off with tragedy as Josh found his main camera lens shattered in transport. Certain alternate visual choices had to be made on the fly with the shoot going late into the wee-morning hours.  Friends from The Foghorns, Virgin of the Birds, Caleb & Walter, The James Apollo Five and The Sundries switched around the play the wedding band until myself, Aimee, Ken and Allison take over later in the video.

I'm very happy with the results and having my first "big-budget" November Rain-esque video. Thanks to Josh and Vera Pash too for helping put the whole thing together and of course to all the hard-qorking non-union actors for gracing the screen.
